Prof. Aldo Drago, Director of the IOI-Malta Operational Centre (IOI-MOC) and Head of the Physical Oceanograohy Unit. He is the Maltese delegate to the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission (IOC/UNESCO), to the International Commission for the Scientific Exploration of the Mediterranean (CIESM) and the National Representative for the Committee on the International Oceanographic Data and Information Exchange (IODE/IOC). He is also the National Delegate for Malta on the Joint WMO/IOC Technical Commission for Oceanography & Marine Technology (JCOMM). Since 1998, he has served as the Executive Secretary of MedGOOS (the Global Ocean Observing System for the Mediterranean) in the Malta office. He obtained his Ph.D. in Physical Oceanography from the University of Southampton in 1999.
Mr. Joel Azzopardi, computer Scientist and programmer specializing in the development of frameworks for automated systems in connection with forecasting and related technical services. He obtained his B.Sc. in Physics and Computer Science from the University of Malta in 2004 and is currently studying for his Ph.D. degree in Computer Science.
Dr. Alan Deidun, recognised as a Chartered Biologist by the Institute of Biology of London. He holds a Ph.D. in Biology and has co-authored over 25 peer-reviewed papers on various aspects of coastal and marine biology. He has conducted a number of marine impact assessments, is a member of the ECSA of the UK and of the SIBM of Italy and is currently a lecturer at the Physical Oceanography Unit of the University of Malta.
