Prof. Yuriy Nikolayevich Tokarev, Head of the Biophysical Ecology Department; Deputy Director of the A.O. Kovalevsky Institute of biology of the southern seas (IBSS), the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. Expert in: interrelationships between vertical structure of the biological, biophysical (bioluminescence and acoustic) and hydrophysical fields on different spatial-temporal scales; utilize date of the biophysical fields for evaluation of the marine ecosystems physiological state. 27 scientific cruises to the Atlantic, Indian and Pacific Oceans, at the Mediterranean and Black seas. Honours and Awards:of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine for Scientific Achievements (2006); State Prize of Ukraine for Science and Technique (2007).

Prof. Nelli G. Sergeeva, Head of the Benthos Ecology Department. Expertise: benthic ecosystem; biodiversity of meiobenthos; systematic and ecology of free-living Nematodes; deep-sea benthos; methane gas seeps associated fauna. Involvement in EU Projects: HERMES (FP6) and HYPOX (FP7).





Dr. Alexander Bolachev, Senior Research Scientist, Deputy Director, Head of Department of Plankton. Expertise: ichthyofauna of the Azov-Black Seas basin, tendencies of changes of the marine ecosystem structural elements under the anthropogenic press influence; peculiarities of the fishing in the Black and Azov Seas. Project Leader of the UNESCO Participation Programme 2002-2003; 2004-2005; 2010-2011. Expert on ichthyology of the CIESM WK 39.




Dr. Alexandra Gubanova, Senior Research Scientist. Department of Plankton. Expertise: long-term changes of zooplankton communities of the Black Sea, biodiversity of zooplankton, taxonomy of Copepoda. Involvement in EU Projects: EUR-OCEANS, SESAME, EnviroGRIDS, 4SEAS





Dr. Vladimir Mukhanov, Senior Research Scientist. Department of Plankton, Head of Flow Cytometry and Cell Analysis Group at IBSS. Expertise: Aquatic microbial ecology; viral ecology; biological microcalorimetry and thermodynamics; microplankton bioenergetics and trophodynamics. Involvement in EU Projects: 4SEAS





Dr. Vitaly Giragosov, Senior Research Scientist. Department of Mariculture and Applied Oceanology. Expertise: investigation of age/growth strategies in fish; otolith microstructure; structure of marine fish populations; reproduction cycles; types of oogenesis, fish early development, mariculture. Involvement in International Projects: 4SEAS (FP7); 2010 - ODEMM: Options for Delivering Ecosystem-Based Marine Management (FP7).




Dr. Vladimir Gubanov, Senior Research Scientist. Department of Mariculture and Applied Oceanology. Expertise: analysis of nutrients and of pollutants of anthropogenic origin (including heavy metals) in water column and sediments.






Mr. Denis Altukhov, Research Scientist. Department of Plankton. Expertise: long-term changes of zooplankton communities of the Black Sea, biodiversity of zooplankton, taxonomy of Copepoda. Involvement in EU Projects: EUR-OCEANS, SESAME, EnviroGRIDS.





Prof. Georgy Shulman, Leader Scientist. Department Animal Physiology and Biochemistry. Expertise: Adaptation marine animals to environmental, biodiversity, life history, transformation energy and substance in food web, indication of small pelagic fish condition.





Dr. Tatjana Yuneva, Senior Research Scientist. Department Animal Physiology and Biochemistry. Expertise: physiology and ecology of marine species, lipid metabolism, lipid content and composition, fatty acid composition, indication of small pelagic fish condition.





Dr. Galina Finenko, Senior Research Scientist. Department Animal Physiology and Biochemistry. Expertise: ecology and physiology of gelatinous zooplankton in the Black Sea, gelatinous data bases, long-term monitoring of zooplankton communities, predatory impact of ctenophores on zooplankton.
