PERSEUS proudly presents a concise and actionable strategy for an Integrated Mediterranean and Black Seas Ocean Observing System (an IMBOOS).

It synthesises the ideas and discussions from the “Kostas Nittis Scientific and Strategic Workshop on a coordinated European observing systems strategy’’ held in Athens in May 2015 to honour this forward thinking ocean scientist.




It is an illuminating document on how important the Mediterranean and Black Sea is to the marine environment, it includes precise arguments on the necessity of an IMBOOS and answers the question why the best time for it is now.

The Strategy includes guiding principles and defines 4 key components and initial steps to have the IMBOOS into operation. It is a result build on previous work, existing challenges, and a 2030 vision of ocean observation.
