The Agriculture and Fisheries Council meeting on 15th July 2013

The Agriculture and Fisheries Council meeting of July 2013 will take place in Brussels on 15th July 2013.

Fisheries main issues included in the agenda are:

1. Progress made in phasing out overfishing will be presented; Commission will argue towards MSY (Maximum Sustainable Yield) as an effective measure and present expected benefits such as fuel saving costs and raising TAC (Total Allowable Catch).

2. Scientific advice improvements regarding fish stocks.

3. Reaching to a general approach for the proposal for a Regulation on the European Maritime and Fisheries Fund (EMFF); the financial instrument underpinning the reformed Common Fisheries Policy (CFP).
