The Baku Initiative |
Objectives |
The Baku Initiative is a policy dialogue aimed at enhancing energy cooperation between the EU and countries of the Black Sea, the Caspian Basin and their neighbours. Its goal is to achieve progressive integration of the Black Sea and Caspian Sea region energy markets with the EU markets.
The 2nd Energy Ministerial Conference was held in November, 2006 and agreed on a new Energy Road Map which sets a long-term plan focusing on the four following priority areas: converging of energy markets; enhancing energy security; supporting sustainable energy development, including energy efficiency, renewable energy sources and demand side management; and attracting investment towards energy projects of common interest. |
