The “Marine Environment and Sciences Awareness Campaign” is implemented by HELMEPA with the support of the independent charity, Lloyd's Register Foundation (LRF), across 12 cities in Greece.

The principal objective of the Campaign is to inform primary and secondary school students as well as the broader community in rural areas away from Athens, about the environment, shipping activities, applied sciences and engineering.

A Workshop titled “Environmental Education and Litter Pollution Prevention” was held on Tuesday 8 October in the Municipality of the city of Thiva’s Conference Centre. The theme of the Workshop combined the scope of the Campaign with the spirit of the Ministry of Education’s recent initiative to establish the second week of October as “Environmental Education Week”.

The PERSEUS project, through its long standing cooperation with HELMEPA, was presented to research to Workshop participants, focusing on measures addressing the educational community and society in general.
