The Institute of Oceanography and Fisheries is an interdisciplinary institute, encompassing almost all of aspects of physical, chemical, biological oceanography, fisheries and aquaculture, while the researchers of IOF may put a strong accent to the different indicators (from physical, chemical through biological indicators toward allochtonous species and fisheries indicators) for the assessment of the combined effects of natural and human-made pressures in the Adriatic. The Institute is carrying out a comprehensive and interdisciplinary research just in that area, for over 50 years at some transects (e.g., Split-Gargano, or Jabuka Pit profile, some deep stations in the southern Adriatic). The IOF Scientists have been strongly involved in research of Adriatic circulation.
