Prof. Ruben D. Kosyan, graduated from the Physics Department of Moscow State University in 1969, Ph. D since 1975, Doctoral degree – since 1991. Head of the Department of the Coastal Zone and Laboratory of Lithodynamics of the P.P. Shirshov Institute of Oceanology, Russian Academy of Sciences. Main fields of interests: Sediment transport, new techniques and methods of field measuring of suspended sediment concentration and composition, orbital velocities, storm characteristics of bed microforms. Improvement of ecological situation in the nearshore zone and protection of coastal landscapes. Research experience: Head of the Russian Federal Research Program “Development of strategy of the Black and Azov seas coast protection from destructive action of waves and stabilization of their coastal lines”. Participation in the international Projects: ARENA, ASCABOS, JASON, SCENE, ENCORA, SCENE upgrade. Author of 6 monographs and more than 300 papers. Ch. editor of 4 books.

Dr. Andrei G. Zatsepin, graduated from Physics Department of Moscow State University in 1976, Ph. D since 1983, Doctoral degree – since 1998. Head of the Laboratory of Experimental Ocean Physics of the P.P. Shirshov Institute of Oceanology, Russian Academy of Sciences. Main fields of interests: basinscale and mesoscale dynamics of the Black Sea, shelf–deep sea interactions, laboratory modelling of fluid dynamical processes in the ocean.




Dr. Tamara A. Shiganova, Ph.D. since 1976, Doctoral degree - since 2010. Leading scientist of the Structure and dynamics of plankton communities Laboratory of the P.P. Shirshov Institute of Oceanology, Russian Academy of Sciences. Main fields of interests: gelatinous plankton, invasive species, fish reproduction and migrations, fishery and fish stocks, biodiversity; trophic web, ecosystem dynamic study; functioning of the pelagic ecosystems of the inland seas of Eurasia. Research experience: Principal investigator and coordinator of NODC (National Oceanographic Data Center) based on SeaDataNet. Participation in EC projects: EU EROS, EU FW-5 SEA SEARCH, EU FW-6: IASON, SEADATANET, Black Sea Scene, SESAME, FW-7 CASPINFO, BLACK SEA SCENE, EDMONET. Author of 130 papers and 4 books.
